Faloria summit, a balcony 1200 m over Cortina
2 different options for Faloria summit, the muscular one and the freeride.
- As big is the effort, as big is the satisfaction of cycling the top of a mountain.
- A cable-car to the balcony and a long descent to Cortina.
Mountain Faloria is not one of the main iconic mountains of the Dolomites UNESCO, in old time it was the residence of sun god, in fact it was called “Ciasadiò”. Todays it’s mainly known for its ski slopes, however it has a particularity: it’s possible to ride the bicycle on its summit.
The first part of the ascent to Monte Faloria is a warmup, there are few steep sections, but you have the possibility to check “the leg” (if it is a bad day we have an intriguing plan B). The second half has a slope constantly above 20%, with some section where it’s required to push the MTB. The brave who will decide to tackle this route: you can only imagine the satisfaction of riding on top!
Once we reach our destination, the view from the Faloria summit is very wide: at its feet we can see the Cortina d’Ampezzo basin, behind the Cristallo group, where there is the first part of “the best tour of the world“, in front we will have the Croda da Lago and the Tofane, at the bottom you can see the Marmolada and the Pale di San Martino, and then … the list is too long to be listed.
If instead you do not like puffing an entire day, there is the possibility to get up by cable car and then go downhill with the mtb. This option allows you to enjoy the same magnificent panorama and have fun on a fantastic descent.
There are different ways to descent, both for beginners and for skilled MTBers, to whom we recommend some particularly fun and flowing single tracks.
