TRE CIME DI LAVAREDO
Silent Tre Cime di Lavaredo
There is a quiet and secluded way to reach the Tre Cime di Lavaredo: a simple itinerary, suitable for all but of an extraordinary charm. With a glimpse of history, our eyes will rest on the north walls step by step, slowly.
We like to reach the Tre Cime di Lavaredo on foot, away from the cars, the crowds and the busiest footpaths.
This itinerary is very simple and suitable for everyone. It takes us to the foot of the beautiful North walls of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo gradually, slowly, step by step along a mule track of the World War One. An itinerary full of history, along the eighteenth century borders between an Empire and a Republic, which intersects galleries and trenches still well preserved, which remain as silent witnesses of the events of these places.
If these aspects intrigue you, you can digress and go and visit some posts. In this case it is good to have a headlamp to illuminate the tunnels.
The sharp peaks of intense color of the north walls of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo are beginning to be glimpsed halfway through the excursion and finally reveal themselves in their “power” only at the end of the ascent. It is fascinating to think that here 220 million years ago there was the sea and that the sedimentation of tiny particles led to the form of such beauty. The numerous fossils found in this rock formation reveal this.
With your gaze you can see the famous walls of the Tre Cime di Lavaredo in search of the evolution of the climbers, primarily on the well-known North walls, but also on the other walls or on the corners, where there are many climbing routes as well.
The Tre Cime di Lavaredo are deservedly the symbol of the Dolomites, a UNESCO World Heritage site.
