STRONGHOLDS IN CADORE
Strongholds in Cadore by bicycle
Four different trips to explore the “yellow line” by bicycle, a fortifications system built before the World War One. Strongholds in Cadore were built on strategic viewpoints and are connected with the valleys by good century years old roads, perfect for MTB.
Itineraries description
Col di Sant’Anna
There are two forts at a different altitude, the higher one has a stunning panorama, the lower one is in a good shape of preservation, it’s possible to visit some parts of it, remind a headlamp.
There are different ways to go down, less or more technical, just choose .
LEVEL: OO Moderate
Monte Rite
An incredible panoramic viewpoint, placed between two big dolomitic mountains: Pelmo and Antelao.
On the summit the structures of the fort are reused, there is a mountain hut (Rifugio Dolomites) and the Messner Mountain Museum Dolomites (yes, that one Messner: the 8000’s king).
Sunset and sunrise are stunning, consider the possibility for a night in the mountain hut and a 2 day ride, we have the right offer for you.
LEVEL: OO Moderate
Col Vidal
The fort is on a high-plain in a pivot position between two valleys; there are 2 different accesses and 5 different possibilities for descent, for sure there is a lot of fun for everyone.
Do you want an easy trip? No problem, it’s possible to eliminate 1000 m ascent using a bike-shuttle.
On the high-plain there are two comfortable mountain huts, there is the possibility to sleep in the hut and to do a two day ride, in that case we have the right offer for you.
LEVEL: OO Challenging
Monte Tudaio
The main fort of the eastern area, it’s our superlative offer of the strongholds in Cadore: the better view, the hardest and thirstiest ascent, the biggest fortification, no shortcuts, the absence of alternatives and, obviously, the biggest satisfaction.
The first half is the steepest, probably we have to push the bicycles for some sections, after this turning point the ascent is more simple and panoramic, at every turn there is something new to discovery.
LEVEL: OO Only the brave
