Winter in Fed\u00e8ra with snowshoes, both at the lake and at the cozy dairy hut<\/h2>\n

The enchanting iced Fed\u00e8ra lake, the homonymous cozy dairy hut and countless slopes on which to walk in the fresh snow. Winter in Fed\u00e8ra is wonderful, we can move using snowshoes, making a crossing or a ring ride.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\"Winter<\/a><\/p>\n

The lake of Fed\u00e8ra is one of the largest and deepest natural lakes in the Dolomites, especially if we consider those at high altitude. The lake is at the foot of a mountain, for that reason it is called \u201cCroda da Lago\u201d (mountain of the lake). It is a jagged mountain, a long procession of spiers, towers and pinnacles interspersed with chimneys and canals.<\/p>\n

The lake is in a panoramically enviable position, a very sparse forest of larches and stone pines spans two sides, elsewhere the view opens towards the looming walls of Croda da Lago, towards the aesthetic Becco de Mezod\u00ec and overlooks the valley of Cortina d’Ampezzo and all the mountains that surround the town.<\/p>\n

In winter the lake is frozen, usually covered with snow, however, thanks to a combination of particular weather conditions, in very rare moments it is also possible to skate on it.<\/p>\n

The Fed\u00e8ra dairy hut, ab antiquo created as shelter for sheeps (in Ladino the sheep is called f\u00e8da<\/em>), is nowadays carried out both as a dairy hut for cattle, horses and donkeys, and as a moden backcountry lodge, it offer refreshment for hikers, mountaineers, cyclists and snowshoeser who climb or descend from the lake.<\/p>\n

The crossing allows you to make a short and spectacular ascent, followed by a long downhill road partly on groomed snow; on the other hand, if the decision is to walk a round ring, the effort is greater and we cross woods that in winter are rarely visited by snowshoes or skiers.<\/p>\n
